“Draco,” she said quietly after finding him in the bathroom, hunched over a sink. He looked up slowly, finding her reflection in the mirror. His eyes were dark and sullen, like he hadn’t slept in days.
“Draco, I…you can’t be…I’m not…it’s not your fault,” she sputtered. “We all do things we shouldn’t do—”
His rugged voice cuts hers off, “I have to do this.”
“You don’t have to.” She takes a tentative step forward and then a few more before he lets out a low growl that let’s her know that she’s pushing it. “You won’t have to do this if you just accept my help.”
He turns around quickly, his wand pointing directly at her face. “I don’t want your help. If I don’t do this then Bella will get you and it’ll be worse.”
“Draco—”
“Avada Kedavra,” he said abruptly, immediately regretting it the moment the words left his mouth. He knelt beside her limp body and closed her eyes with fingers before retreating the bathroom.
